If I ship a package 2 an APO address overseas by USPS can it be insured 2 the final stop or only 2 the NY zip?

The APO address is an NY zip code and then is transferred over by the military. So does insuring with USPS cover it until NY or until it reaches it's final destination? |||It's good all the way. We are stationed in Guam and have to have most things sent to our FPO. We've had a couple things that arrived in a few pieces, and we were able to have them replaced because they were insured.|||insured all the way, they are responsible until it reaches the person you are sending it to. make sure you buy insurance and keep the reciept!!!!!|||Typically, the insurance you purchase covers the package, until it reaches the address printed on the package. That destination, is the only one the Postal Service is Insuring. When that package reaches it's destination, and now "Out Of" the Post Offices hands, control, etc... They can not be held responsible for a package that no longer is within their system. You might want to ask the USPS directly, but it makes sense. Why should they take responsibility on something that is literally out of their hands?
